Comparison

The best Australian sports betting APIs in 2026, compared from their own pages

13 odds APIs that price Australian bookmakers, measured on the same twelve facts. Every fact was read from the provider's own public page on 12 Oct 2026 and is linked beside it. One of the 13 is ours: Fast Odds API is the SockOdds API, and it sits in the table on the same terms as everyone else.

How this was done. We read each provider's pricing, bookmaker and coverage pages and copied the numbers as they stand, with the page linked under each cell. We did not run latency tests, so speed claims are the providers' own words in quotes. Bookmaker counts are each provider's own number next to what it counts: some count every brand on a shared price board as a bookmaker, and some (including us) count separately priced books. Where a page said nothing, the cell says so. If a fact here is out of date, email [email protected] and we will fix it and re-date the page.

Betfair Exchange API

Betfair Australia; Mitch Motyka is named as its automation lead. Fast Odds API vs Betfair's API

How to choose

Five questions that settle it

  1. Which Australian books must you show? Count the named ones on each provider's page, not the headline number. If Sportsbet, Ladbrokes and the small books matter, the list shortens fast.
  2. Pre-match or in-play? If you need prices during the game, choose a provider that sells that (Odds-API.io, OpticOdds, theoddsapi.com, The Odds API). We refresh about every five minutes and say so.
  3. Racing? Krok Odds and PuntersEdge. Nobody else here does it properly.
  4. How is the bill counted? Credits that multiply with markets and bookmakers punish wide requests; per-event billing does not. Run your real request shape through each meter.
  5. Do you want a fair price handed to you, or the inputs? SportsGameOdds publishes a de-vigged price on the market; Krok, SharpAPI and odds-api.net sell computed edges instead. We send Pinnacle and Betfair Exchange prices beside every Australian book, so you remove the margin with the method you trust.
Which odds API has the most Australian bookmakers?

It depends what you count. Krok Odds lists 157 branded sites and RapidOddsAPI 120, both counting brands that share one price feed. Counting separately priced books, Fast Odds API (SockOdds) lists 37, The Odds API 13, OpticOdds at least ten, SportsGameOdds about eight, Odds-API.io six, OddsPapi five, PuntersEdge six on sports. Each figure is from the provider's own page, read 12 Oct 2026.

Which Australian odds APIs have a free plan?

Fast Odds API (2,500 objects a month), The Odds API (500 credits), PuntersEdge (3,000 credits), Krok Odds (50 credits), RapidOddsAPI (250 credits in total), SportsGameOdds (2,500 objects), SharpAPI (12 requests a minute, two books) and theoddsapi.com (25 requests a day). odds-api.net has none and Odds-API.io has paused new free keys. Betfair's API is free with an account.

Which is cheapest for a small project?

PuntersEdge at A$9 a month, then Fast Odds API's free plan if the AFL, NRL, NFL or MLB from three books is enough, then odds-api.net at US$30, theoddsapi.com at US$29 and The Odds API at US$30. Cheap and complete are different things: check which books each plan includes.

Which one covers racing?

Krok Odds and PuntersEdge cover Australian thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing. Betfair's API covers racing on the exchange. The rest, including us, do not.

Why is SockOdds in a comparison on a SockOdds site?

Because leaving it out would be stranger. Fast Odds API is a second front door to the SockOdds API, run by the same company. The table treats it the same as everyone else, every cell is sourced, and the verdicts say where the others win.
